Your privacy is important to OSM. Any information you give to OSM will be held with the utmost care, and will not be used in ways that you have not consented to.

Any and all information collected at this site will be kept strictly confidential within the OSM companies and will not be sold, reused, rented, loaned, or otherwise disclosed to any external party.

Please note that some of our pages contain links to web sites which are owned or run by unrelated companies and which are therefore not under our control. Such sites are not covered by OSM’s Privacy Policy.

Why we hold your information

We collect information to help keep you informed about the development of our products and services or to ensure that, when you are a customer, you can receive the best product support and assistance that we are able to provide.

We hold databases in the following operational areas. These may contain data on you but this will depend on whether you are a current or prospective customer.

  • sales and marketing (both customers and prospective customers)
  • email lists (both customers and prospective customers)
  • product service and support (customers)
  • software license records (customers)
  • accounts (customers)

How we use your information

The information which we collect about you or your business enables us to:

  • understand your needs

  • improve our service
  • stay in touch with news of products and services via the channels you have agreed to (marketing)
  • deliver information, goods and services to the addresses you have provided
  • check and improve existing information we may have acquired from other sources
  • complete the internal administration necessary to recognize you as a legitimate user of our products and services
  • meet the requirements imposed on us by legislation

Information collected on the Web site

OSM does not collect any personal information from users browsing our Web site other than through registration or subscription forms where the information is given voluntarily. We do analyze our Web site logs to collect aggregate data – such as the number of hits per page – and use this data to improve the value of the materials available on our Web site. This data is used for internal business purposes only.

Our Web site logs do not keep sufficient detail for us to be able to identify individuals, and we make no attempt to link them with the individuals that actually browse the site.

We use "cookies" to recognize returning visitors and to track content usage and web-site traffic. Where a visitor has not completed a registration or subscription form, cookies do not collect personal data. Only when you have registered can a "cookie" tell us the personal information which you have previously left with us. You can set your browser not to accept "cookies" but, if so, there may be areas of our web sites which you cannot view.

Some areas of our Web site, particularly those relevant to Partners and Customer Support are password protected, and require that you are a licensed user of OSM (or OSM-supplied) software or have registered as a member of a Program (for example, as an OSM Partner). In other select areas, which can include product demonstrations, product trials, newsletters or other offers, we may request that you provide us with particular information before accessing that area.

Use of OSM’s email lists

OSM maintains several e-mail lists to keep interested parties informed about our company, events, products, support, and more. We collect this information when individuals voluntarily contribute it by signing up through a form or other means on our Web site or providing us with their e-mail address at a trade show, seminar, direct mail response or other event, or when they register as customers. We do not sell, rent, loan, trade, or lease the addresses on our list to anyone.

Restricting particular channels of contact

If you have supplied us with contact details of a particular type (for example, postal address, phone number or e-mail) we may use those details to contact you with information about products or services, or forthcoming events. If you do not want to be contacted by us via one or more of those channels, please contact us and tell us which ones we should not use. They are:

  • direct mail
  • phone
  • fax
  • e-mail
  • all of the above

Legal disclosure

When approached by the appropriate legal authorities, information about you, your business or account usage may be disclosed, but only when specifically required under the laws appropriate to the territory.

Financial data security

When we transfer and receive financial information as part of an online financial transaction, we redirect visitors to a secure server and will notify visitors through a pop-up screen on our site. We have appropriate security measures in place in our physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you at our site.
